His key chain says, “If I can’t take it with me, I’m not going!” ……………hmmmmmmmmm This sale is this coming Friday & Saturday. It is a complete estate, including his 1973 Ford 250 truck, camper, boat & trailer! My sister is flying in from Oregon tonight to help me. Most of the items in the house are from the 1950′s & 1960′s, and everything is very well organized – even the shop cloths in the garage are all folded neatly!
We wrapped up the estate sale on Saturday. 3 days and everything is gone. The house was ready for the new owners by Monday afternoon. Here’s what I learned: When you love somebody for the rest of your life – it shows. Your neighbors know almost everything! Your THINGS are temporary. Love grows in a garden!
Yesterday, Linda and I spent HOURS unpacking all of the Christmas boxes that had been taken out of the crawl space. She had quite a collection of angels, and ornaments from various vacation destinations. The most bone chilling experience of the day was when I opened the birthday card that he had given her most recently which had his voice recorded on it – telling her how special she was to him! We had to take a few minutes to catch our breath but recovered quickly and got back to tackling the job. Pictures will be posted soon!
Just started working on the next estate sale. The estate belonged to a man that passed away at the age of 88. His wife was almost 20 years younger – she followed him to the grave within 3 weeks. A second marriage for both of them had lasted nearly 20 years. It appears that they lived a comfortable life. She had a little stained glass studio, and he had all the woodworking tools a man could ever need. The photo albums are to be included in the sale ……………… perhaps they will tell a more detailed story? I wonder if she died from a broken heart…

The sale concluded at 5:00 pm Saturday and was deemed a success! Lots of new customers. We had a fun time making deals.
Sometimes I need a little nudge to find the time to BLOG! So, today I rec’d my first comment from a stranger! Late last week I was referred to a family in need to have a quick sale as they are having to move the mom, 82, in with one of the sons. So, we signed the contract on Monday and will conclude the 3 day sale on July 31st. I am feeling heartbroken to have to invade this woman’s space! She will be leaving tomorrow on a plane to Iowa, and we will attempt to sell all that she has to leave behind. Seems so sad!
WOW! Yesterday at the estate sale was such a great experience with the spirit world! Even the Byrd’s showed up!! Ever have one of those unexplainable moments, so powerful, that you KNOW it just isn’t from this space in time? The kind that literally sends chills through your spine? One of the customers was so overwhelmed by the spirit(s) that it took her to the point of tears! I found a very old prayer card from a revival which had the name of a visiting pastor, Ted Byrd! Now really, what are the chances of that?!!!!!!!!!! (For those of you that don’t know me, Byrd was my grandmother’s maiden name.) Ok, so this is still sending the chills!
With alot of help – it is shaping up. The air is getting purified and spirit orbs are captured on film! This morning we will tackle the kitchen! Wondering what will be uncovered today! My ladybug has made her appearance!
Just got in to the storefront with a truckload of boxes from the emergency consignment. My postcards to market the sale this weekend arrived at the shop today. Good thing I can multi-task! The chore in front of me appears to be enormous – but somehow I’ll get it done!
